Doll Fabric Collection

A LONG TIME COMING...

It will have taken many years for this project to happen.  I am finally producing a line of high-quality DOLL FABRICS.  No more hunting high and low for a fabric with the correct scale for your doll projects or changing your design plans based on what fabrics you were able to source.

WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE?

Production should be completed by mid-may.  Inspection, pre-cutting/packaging will take me a few weeks.  If all goes well it could be available this coming June.  It will all depend on the current COVID-19 situation and its effects on our shipping services.

WHAT SCALES ARE INCLUDED IN EACH PANEL?

I did not base any of my designing choices on the standard 1/24, 1/12, 1/6, 1/4 doll scales.  The same 1/6 scale fabric would not look the same on a 12" fashion doll and a 12" child doll.  So I came up with four different scales that I feel provide all you need to sew for dolls of various sizes and various body types.

WHAT TYPE OF FABRIC IS IT?

This first collection is produced in a high-quality poly-cotton blend I feel is the best option for doll clothes.  The textile factory producing the line uses the same dying/printing processes as the quality fabrics available at your favorite shop.  While some processes are digital the textile factory uses raw fabrics and dying/printing processes that do not require pre-printing-treatment.  The resulting fabrics stay soft, can be washed, dry cleaned, will not stain your doll, etc.

Future collection ( if this first one reaches an audience ) could include other fabrics like knits, stretch, silk, chiffon, etc... but I feel this poly-cotton will remain the star of this line as the "fun to sew with" option.

ARE THESE FABRICS LIMITED EDITIONS?

This first collection was limited by the amount of money I was able to invest.  It took me a while to convince the textile factory to allow me to produce only one bolt of each design so I could present a full collection within my financial limitations.  So "yes" this first production is limited to 35 panels per fabric designs.  But I will consider producing more of a popular design once it runs out so... "no" they are not limited editions.

HOW MUCH WILL THEY COST?

Each poly-cotton panel will sell for $15.00 US/each. Discounted prices will be offered for orders of 4, 8, or 12 panels.  Shipping/Handling  will be $8.95 for 1-3 panels ou $13.95 for 4-12 panels.

WILL THESE FABRICS BE AVAILABLE IN FABRIC STORES?

Probably not.  I enjoy the interaction with customers too much to give it away to a distributor.  I prefer keeping the line small and fun.

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER COLLECTION THIS YEAR?

I simply do not know.  It will depend if this collection sells or not.  Either it does and I end up with some cash flow to reinvest, or it does not sell and I end up with a basement full of fabric (wait... I already have that!).

A few years ago I designed a few dolls for a "Gone with the Wind" themed event.  One of the outfits was the iconic Scarlett BBQ dress.  In order to reproduce it as closely as possible I decided to reproduce the fabric from the movie scaled for my 11" doll Leeann.  It is interesting to know that in order to stay on the right side of the law I needed to redraw the entire fabric from scratch.  It was legal for me to use a photo of the original fabric to guide me but I had to draw each and every little petal on my computer.  The main cluster was 36" x 36" in my high-resolution drawing.  The other components were sub-layers of that cluster.  I have reworked the design in four different scales for this collection.
